The fourth edition of the International Program in Scenography

concludes with a public exhibition and concert on Saturday,

September 6, 2025

We are proud to announce the International Program in Scenography — “Face to Face. Who is the Other?” GALA, the final event of the fourth edition of IPS, featuring a public exhibition of the site-specific works created during the residency, followed by the concert “Orlando Trip” by the Austrian group Fox on Ice.

The event will take place on September 6, 2025, starting at 6:00 PM, on the Siutghiol Lake waterfront in Ovidiu, Constanța. The event is open to the public and free of charge.

The International Program in Scenography (IPS) is a one-of-a-kind international artistic residency in Romania, organized annually by OISTAT Romania.

This year, 20 students and emerging artists from 12 countries — including scenographers, lighting designers, sound designers, architects, choreographers, directors, and performers from Romania, Italy, Mexico, the UK, Ukraine, Germany, Georgia, Poland, the USA, Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan — will collaborate with five international mentors over the course of two weeks. The workshops will take place at the Roman Castrum and along the Lake Siutghiol waterfront in Ovidiu, culminating in the public exhibition during the Gala.

The five mentors guiding the creation of the IPS 2025 installations are:

SEAN CROWLEY (UK) – Designer with extensive experience in film, opera, theatre, and television.

DRAGOȘ BUHAGIAR (RO) – Set and costume designer for theatre and opera.

ABY COHEN (BR / UK) – Performance and exhibition designer, curator, artistic director, educator, and President of OISTAT International.

JANAÍNA SUAUDEAU (FR / BR) – Actress, director, and translator

CHARLES CHEMIN (FR / USA) – Stage director, dramaturg, and lighting designer for theatre, dance, and opera

The concert will be performed by Fox on Ice, an Austrian group founded by Christian Maïr (musician, producer, visual artist) and Anna Luca Poloni (theater director, writer and performer). Their project explores narratives of transformation through feminine and fluid perspectives, at the intersection of music, literature, film, and theatre.

The performance, titled “Orlando Trip”, is a cinematic music show inspired by the mythical figure of Orlando, and serves as a tribute to the great European minds Lodovico Ariosto and Virginia Woolf. A Mediterranean tale of the sea — a triumph of the unconscious and of fluidity — ”Orlando Trip” is a celebration of transformation that will delight cinephiles, music lovers, and literature enthusiasts alike. The performance has been invited to international theatres and festivals in Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Slovenia, Israel, Sri Lanka, and Romania.
